DESCRIPTION:Local piano man and well-known Cleveland men’s clothier\, Danny Abraham\, has been entertaining Deltans and beyond since he was a college student. “I started playing piano when I was six years old and played in bands and as a solo artist for all of my years afterwards. I played when I was at Ole Miss with a group that went all over recruiting students and was able to share the stage with celebrities like Bob Hope and others. When I returned to Cleveland\, to attend Delta State\, I joined the campus music group Renaissance\, also a recruiting arm for the school\, and we literally toured all over the world. Even after I opened my store\, Abraham’s\, I continued to play with people whenever and wherever I could.” \nAbraham released his first CD\, a Gospel collection of all original compositions titled\, Don’t Worry ‘Bout Me\, in 2020. The project\, produced by award-winning musician Gordon Mote\, was a ‘labor of love and faith.’

DESCRIPTION:Variety is the popular ‘old school’ R&B/soul duo of siblings Eric Edwards and Shara White from Cleveland\, Mississippi. They have been performing together across the country for more than 25 years. Their upbeat repertoire is the kind of music that\, according to Eric\, makes audiences want to ‘eat barbecue and drink cold beer.’ \n\n\nEric and Shara\, born and raised in the Mississippi Delta\, grew up in a musical home where they both started playing and singing at the early ages of 5 and 6 years old\, respectively. While citing their father\, Eddie Lee Edwards\, as their primary musical influence\, they also list Whitney Houston\, Mariah Carey\, Michael Jackson\, Prince\, and Quincy Jones as musicians whom they admire and respect. Both Eric and Shara are quick to acknowledge the contributions of their former band director\, Mr. James Stamps\, and musical friends Dr. Alphonso Sanders and Joe Johnson in encouraging and shaping the duo’s musical development and direction. \n\n\nEric’s voice has been compared to the Isley Brothers\, and Shara’s voice draws comparisons to Whitney Houston\, but they both feel that God has given them each a unique voice. Although known for their R&B style\, the duo is also deeply rooted in gospel music. The duo has released an album together titled There Is No One Else\, and in addition to writing original music for God’s Anointed Voices\, Eric has released an R&B project titled Those Vinyl Days!

Stay Prayed Up is a spirited celebration\, inviting audiences into “Mother” Perry’s close-knit community as the 82-year-old strives to extend her sacred song ministry ever forward. \nThis fast-paced\, foot-thumping documentary follows Perry and The Branchettes as they prepare to record their first\, fully live album\, a hallmark in the canon of Black gospel groups. Health concerns with long-time\, long-fingered pianist Wilbur Tharpe underscore the importance of “capturing the spirit” for producer Phil Cook\, a white Wisconsin-born gospel enthusiast and musical polyglot half of Perry’s age. DESCRIPTION:Jake and the Pearl Street Jumpers got their band’s name from the street they grew up on in Cleveland. “When I was in elementary school\, in about the fifth grade\, my friends and I were trying to do music. The majority of us lived on Pearl Street. I was the leader of the group\, so we called ourselves Jake and the Pearl Street Jumpers.” \nWith access to music lessons in school and the exposure to music in the Pentecostal church he attended\, Jake got a good background in music to help get a band started. “And we listened to the radio every chance we had\,” Jake says. “We listened to every song by every artist\, over and over again.” \n“We are upbeat and we have fun\, but there is no drinking or swearing on my stage. We have the cleanest band and the best attitude of any band I’ve ever seen\, and that’s the reason we have been going for so long.” \nWhether it’s in a smoky club\, on a flatbed trailer\, at a festival\, or at a wedding reception\, when Jake and the Pearl Street Jumpers take the stage\, it’s a sure bet that the dance floor will be crowded. For over forty-five years\, the band has played Motown and rhythm and blues tunes for thousands of people across the Delta and as far away as Chicago.

DESCRIPTION:Local piano man and well-known Cleveland men’s clothier\, Danny Abraham\, has been entertaining Deltans and beyond since he was a college student. “I started playing piano when I was six years old and played in bands and as a solo artist for all of my years afterwards. I played when I was at Ole Miss with a group that went all over recruiting students and was able to share the stage with celebrities like Bob Hope and others. When I returned to Cleveland\, to attend Delta State\, I joined the campus music group Renaissance\, also a recruiting arm for the school\, and we literally toured all over the world. Even after I opened my store\, Abraham’s\, I continued to play with people whenever and wherever I could.” \nAbraham released his first CD\, a Gospel collection of all original compositions titled\, Don’t Worry ‘Bout Me\, in 2020. The project\, produced by award-winning musician Gordon Mote\, was a ‘labor of love and faith.’

DESCRIPTION:Fronted by brothers Marcus and Lewon Payne of Renova\, MS\, The Gran Boiz have been playing across the region for decades. They began their musical careers early by singing in their church choir\, but\, Marcus remarks humorously\, they “eventually figured out a way to get out of the choir…and became musicians.” As they grew older\, they were influenced by a wide variety of artists: from fellow Mississippians Sam Cooke and B.B. King to music greats like Ray Charles and James Brown\, as well as pioneers of other genres such as rock legend Jimi Hendrix and rapper 2Pac. The brothers honed their instrumental abilities over the years as the backing band for blues artist Mississippi Slim who gave them the moniker Gran Boiz.

She performed with the DMI All-Stars in Los Angeles as part of the GRAMMY Museum’s ‘Mississippi Night’ in 2019. She is currently pursuing a graduate degree at Delta State while performing around town and working as an administrative assistant for the Delta Music Institute.
